Ed Wilson of Ed-Vanced Engines and Performance of Plano, Texas

Ed and BRC Performance have teamed up to create a series of custom pistons for Ed's customers. The pistons have been designed to allow for a more complete burn pattern thus increasing performance. These pistons have been mentioned in an article in National Dragster magazine and in an upcoming issue of Race Engine Technology magazine. BRC Performance would like to thank Ed and his customers for providing BRC with engine details and photos of their cars.

The Flying Frenchman is currently undergoing dyno testing.. it is using alcohol/methanol with Nitrous added and electronic fuel injection...check back for the test results!

Ed began his engine building career at the ripe old age of 14 when he bought a used '51 Ford with no motor. He got a motor from a junk yard and set about rebuilding it himself. He jacked the car up in the air really high and then set it on concrete blocks. Thankfully, a neighbor stopped and offered assistance before the car fell off of the blocks. Ed rebuilt the engine using only a Chilton's guide. The motor ran on the first crank but it had a slight knock. Ed soon discovered that one of the rod bearings fell out when he was knocking the pistons in. To this day, he always checks and double checks to be sure that all the rod bearings stay in place!

In 1994, after owning a custom stereo and cellular store chain, Ed got back into rebuilding engines by starting to take on customers into his shop. "Most all of my engines end up with differences to the normal cookie cutter stuff by other engine builders. More than one has said that my engines sound different. I do know that I can build high compression street pump gas engines that run and live. I know that my serious race motors run and live. And my extreme Nitrous engines are doing a pretty good job of both performance and living. I do all in my power to do the best I am capable of in everything I do."
